How was THAT for a post title? Stay with me though because it IS relevant! It began yesterday when, after looking out each day, multiple times, in hopes of seeing a dragonfly & seeing only ONE in three months and 3 days, I saw something I DEFINITELY didn't expect. Not one - not two or three or six or even 12 - but FIFTEEN dragonflies zooming back & forth in their normal dragonfly frenzy across the backyard garden! It took me a while to count them! In fact, it took me a while to make certain my EYES weren't playing tricks on me! But there they were, my all-time favorite insect, in multiples & in MY YARD! I was afraid to go get my camera for fear I'd miss one SECOND of their well-choreographed ballet! So I just stood there at the window in star-struck ecstacy, delighting in every second of the performance. But I used an internet photo just to make my point clearer. I LOVE dragonflies!
Then, there is this. I asked my grandson what he would like me to send him in Iraq. At first he said, "Homemade cookies! LOTS of them!" LOL! That will be a cinch! Then, he told my daughter to add something. She emailed me today & said, "Jake wants to know if you can send him ankle socks & baby wipes?" WHAT???? I guess socks are required where thousands of sand fleas are, and perhaps the ankle ones are cooler. The baby wipes I ASSUME are for cooling off. Surely the Army supplies toilet paper. But I think it's going to be a VERY funny goody box. Something (cookies) for his tummy, something (socks) for his feet, and something (wipes) for his skin or ... well ... I 'm not going there.
And last is the thing I am HOPING for - ASKING for - WAITING for: RAIN!!!! Now, supposedly we are going to have a pretty good chance to get some by Thursday. However, there's a problem with that. In Houston, rain comes with a price tag - and the tag reads: THUNDERSTORMS, INCLUDED. With OUR thunderstorms comes power loss. Grrrrrr! Even when the weatherman says, "Little or NO chance of storms - just a nice, soaking rain" we get STORMS. It's a demonic plot. It IS, I tell you. Those thunderstorms KNOW where I am and they FIND me. Despite it all, I will continue to hope for rain. Oh, how we need it!
You've heard that expression, "Be careful what you ask for because you just may GET it?" I'm learning that works in a LOT of ways.

I'm sure he will be over joyed to get your goody package. Hope your rain comes and NO THUNDERSTORMS. Stay away from Kai. It's sn order!

Praying for rain for you, Kai. If you'll e-mail me your grandson's address at suscleve@aol.com, I'd love to send him a goody bag with some homemade cookies.
The baby wipes are because they don't get to shower every day. I send boxes of them when I send my SIL a package. I also send beef jerky - good protein snacks - he asked for that though rather than candy.
Great job capturing the dragonflies! There is one lake here that has thousands of them - you'd love it!
