TAKING A LITTLE BREAK
I realize that I am absolutely TIRED TO THE MAX. Last night I 'published' a poor-pitiful-me kinda post but removed it first thing this morning because it sounded like I was being a little whine-tail. And I DO NOT admire whining - ESPECIALLY when I'M the one doing the whining! LOL! It finally hit me that I have not yet given myself a chance to STOP, BREATHE, AND RELAX MY MIND since I returned from the several back-and-forth, out-of-town trips. Instead, I just came home and got busy getting busy! I've finally finished my editing, the house is clean, my housemate who's been ill & VERY pitiful, is well enough to NOT be waited on quite so much, and I don't have to teach any classes until the end of July! So I think I will give myself a little gift and take tomorrow through Saturday OFF. I'm going to work on my swap things and go to Barnes and Noble (tomorrow) for cappuccinos and conversation, nap a little here and there, and read a LOT. At night, I will watch 2 hours of mindless tv. Ahhhhh. And WHY, you ask, am I telling you all this? Because I can. BWAHAHAHAHAHA! Not really! I just want you to know I AM here if anyone in my swaps needs something answered (email me) or needs me for anything else that requires an immediate answer. Otherwise, I am going to don my invisible shield and ... POOF! ... disappear until Sunday. I hope all of you stay cool and do at least SOME self-indulging! It really IS good for us now and then. Don't believe me? Well, come back and read the post I'll write Sunday. I suspect it's going to be so relaxed you'll think I'm in la-la land. (Huh? EXCUUUUUUSE me? I'm ALWAYS in la-la land???? Who said that? WELL???? Not talking, eh?) That's okay! Just THINKING about relaxing is making me smile! LATER!

SWAP INFO UPDATES
GOOOOOOOD MORNING!
I want to update everyone on the three - COUNT 'EM - THREE swaps I have going! For more detail, you can, of course, go back to the original posts about them, but here's the quick version of each for your viewing pleasure! HAHAHAHAHA! (Good thing I'm feeling happy and fiesty today! I have to teach three classes at two different places between 10 A.M. and 4 P.M.! Yikes! But I LOVE doing it!) Anyway, here's the 'rundown':
Fabulous Petite Paper Fairy Swap: Everyone has a partner but DOESN'T know who will be mailing to HER. FUN, FUN, FUN! Fairies SHOULD fly out your doors NO LATER THAN July 5th! IF you feel you will be a bit late, PLEASE let ME know so I can alert your partner. 'K?
Vacation in a Matchbox Swap: I have JUST finished sending all swappers a partner, and I have to say, my housemate Ray pulled some AMAZINGLY great matches (hahahaha - matches for a matchbox swap) for each of you! Don't forget to represent YOUR state and/or city and show your partner WHY they are having a GREAT TIME when they open that box! I'm having a BLAST doing mine, especially now that I know who will get it. She's as fun as they come! You should mail your packages no later than July 25th!!!!!
Goth Doll Swap: I will assign partners by July 3rd. Right now the swap is STILL OPEN for SIGN-UPS!!!!! I'd LOVE to have more people join, but even if no one else does, we have some super swappers! Still ... c'mon and join, everyone! I mean - you get to make a GOTH doll of ANY size or style! Fun and stress-free! (La-di-da-di-da ... I'm WAAAAAIIIITING!) Anyway, THAT package needs to be mailed by August 1st!
NOTE: For ALL three swaps, I ask that you PLEASE send me a picture BEFORE you mail your packages! That way, I can post them to my blog after the swap and brag on ALL OF YOU!
So there it is in a nutshell - which is pretty darned appropriate considering who's hosting all these swaps! And this post will give all you swappers a good, quick reference point for the particulars. But of COURSE I am always going to answer any questions if you email me!
HAVE FUN, DON'T STRESS, SEND EXTRAS IF YOU CHOOSE BUT NOT BECAUSE YOU MUST AS IT'S NEVER REQUIRED, AND PLEASE, PLEASER, PLEASIEST DO NOT DISAPPOINT YOUR PARTNER BY FAILING TO MAIL THEM A SWAP ITEM! IF YOU FEEL YOU CANNOT, LET ME KNOW AND I'LL DO IT. (But I KNOW all of my lovely swappers personally, so I don't worry about that.)
Okay! I'm off to teach! Have a MAJORLY wonderful Saturday!

ALL FOR YOU!
I'm blowing millions of kisses to EACH of you tonight because I think you - yes, YOU, my Blogland friends - are JUST FREAKIN' AWESOME! Earlier, I was thinking about how many wonderful people I've come to know since I started this blogging endeavor, and it blows my mind! Some of you, I've known since 2004. Some, I've known for a matter of months. Some, I met just recently. But ALL of you teach me, reach out to me, enrich me. And I'm so grateful to and FOR each one of you! I hope, over the years, to actually MEET some of you in person, and hug the daylights out of you. (Oh, YES! Kai is DEFINITELY a hugging kind of person!) In the meantime, tonight, please catch a whole BUNCH of the virtual hugs & kisses I'm sending your way! THANK YOU for giving so much to me. And thank you for allowing me to be a lil' virtual piece of your lives!

COULDN'T BE BETTER IF IT HAD COME TIED WITH A BIG RED BOW!
Ta-ra-ra-BOOM-DE-AY,
We had some RAIN today!
It wasn't much, but still,
It got us wet! FOR REAL!
Each flower raised its head,
And saw it WASN'T dead!
Brown grass sighed with relief,
As did each leaf!
Ta-ra-ra BOOM-DE-AY!
No scorching HEAT today!
The wildfires raging fast,
Are now things OF the past!
Our sky was nice and gray,
No blaring sun today!
Instead it felt so great
at 78!
Yeah, I KNOW! RIDICULOUS, CORNY, METER IS OFF, ETC. But, can you guess that I'm SUPER happy about today's weather? Ohhhhhhhh, yesssssss!

VACATION IN A MATCHBOX SWAP PLEA
Today, besides getting my HAIR CUT WITH SOME CUTE LIL' SPIKIES - LOL! , I also bought some VERY neat things to add when I do my matchbox! Are you curious? TOO BAD! BWAHAHAHAHAHA. (Bad, bad Kai. Spiked hair makes me even SILLIER!) Anyway, so far, I have 7 people signed up & I really WOULD like an even number. Sooooo ... anyone reading this who may be interested, you all have till the 25th to sign up. C'mon! Just ONE MORE SWEET PERSON. If you ARE interested, scroll down to my swap info post or email me at kola54@sbcglobal.net and I'll just sign you right up! And while I'm begging ... errr ... talking about swaps, There's LOTS of time left to sign up for the Goth Doll Swap! You KNOW THAT'S gonna be a BLAST! I mean, REALLY! Goth is just F.U.N.! The Fabulous Petite Paper Fairy Swap is WELL underway, and by the 5th of July, all you fairy swappers should have mailed your darling fairies! Don't forget to send ME a photo BEFORE you mail so I can show all of them on my blog after everyone has received her package!
Okay. I've driven you crazy enough with swaps. But let me SHOW you something I made before I stop jabbering. My beautiful, wonderful friend, Chirp (Cherie Day) wasn't in Cindy's bug swap. However, I decided to send her a mini-bug box, too! Just for fun, dontcha' know? Here is the bug doll I made for her. I called her Ant Tenna! HAHAHAHA ... ooops. Sorry. Anyway, I had a great time making her! And, yeah, yeah, yeah! I DOOOOO know my sewing abilty is ZERO!
Note: When I finished her, I added a wicker roll for her to hold on her way to - what else - a PICNIC! It had a tiny milk bottle, and some plates and forks. Alrighty. I'm outta here!

BUGGIES ON THE LOOSE!
What's THIS? Why, it seems to be a little pear. And it IS. But why am I showing you a pear? Well, you see, it's what I sent to my wonderful BUG SWAP partner, Cindy Owens, the sweety who HOSTED the swap! Huh? I was s'posed to send a BUG for the swap? Uh-oh! My bad. Or perhaps not ...
Oh! It's a small snail with a lil' orange shell! He's kinda CUTE for a generally slimy sorta critter, isn't he? And he really DOES love living in his pear!
My Amigurami snail was accompanied by a variety of EXTRA buggy critters in lots of shapes and materials, but I took photos only of the snail. Cindy said she likes him because he isn't a REAL snail. (Shhhhh! HE thinks he IS! LOL!)

OKAY! I LOOOOOVE A CHALLENGE!
Earlier this morning I was checking blogs, and on my sweet lil' friend, Cherie's blog, I found a challenge for me, me, me! She knows I always read her blog and I'd see the comments. LOL! Here's the deal: Our beautiful friend, Cindy, at http://enchanthlwdes57.blogspot.com/ was planning to host a Goth Doll Swap. However, due to illness and some personal plans for her near future, she needed to cancel the swap. Cindy and I emailed the other night so I know she is serious about not doing the swap. Anyway, Chirp aka Cherie and my cutie-pie friend, Pam, BOTH of whom were signed up, said they'd have to talk ME into hosting the Goth Doll swap. Well, I LOVE a challenge or a dare, so I am DEFINITELY taking this one!
Here are the particulars:
Sign-ups begin today and will end on Friday, July 1. I will send your partner's name and info to you on Sunday, July 3 by 9 P.M.! (That's a promise!) You should complete your doll and take a picture of her which you will send me so I can show them ALL on my blog after everyone has finished. Then you will mail her to your partner no later than August 1st to assure she will arrive by August 10th at her new home! I am a very relaxed old girl and I love to see my swappers have fun, therefore I tend to give free reign where size of doll is concerned. Same goes for style of Goth - it can be frightening, cute, Victorian, Prim ... whatever pleases YOU will come out in your creating, thus pleasing your partner! As always, extras are lovely but never required! And each of you should contact your partner concerning allergies, should you have any.
Here is what I need from each of you via email:
Your name:
Willing to mail internationally?:
Your blog addy:
Your email:
Your mailing address: (VERY important!)
Your bank and credit card information: BWAHAHAHAHAHA - gotcha', huh? Just kidding, of course - unless you WANT me to have it! LOL!
I look forward to hosting this and will put a button on my sidebar that will lead you to my blog. Hope those of you who sign up will add it to YOUR blog!
OKAY! I'm finished! Whatcha' waiting for? COME SIGN UP!

A WILD AND CRAZY MOOD!
Sometimes I get in these insane moods where I think of all the things I wish I could do AGAIN, or do for the FIRST time! I'm in that kind of mood this afternoon. Everyone around me keeps asking why I have been giggling. (I'm not telling them.) But I'll tell YOU! LOL! I keep thinking about getting my hair cut and totally spiked! Wouldn't that be a blast?
Or jumping up from my seat and starting to dance with complete abandon, startling everyone at first, then having them join me!
Wearing WIIIIIILLLLLD, BRIGHT colors. Not just ONE but SEVERAL - NONE MATCHING!
Meeting Henry Cele as HIMSELF and having him say my name in that AMAZING voice of his. OR meeting him in his role as Shaka Zulu and having him fall madly in love with me then impaling me. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! (Well, he impaled pretty much EVERYONE in the end. May as well keep it real. And I'd DEFINITELY die with a smile on my crazy face!)
Today I FEEL like running a marathon as I did in 2004, once again being - not a small person - yet VERY physically fit, dancing more often than I walked, daring to do crazy things with my hair and clothes. Flirting. (Yes, I used to be a notorious flirt - all in fun, tho'.)
But then I remembered something. I'm almost 61. I have a severely shattered (and PAINFUL) kneecap. I CAN'T run or dance anymore. Some days I can barely walk! I have HAIR again, but it's chemo-damaged and more gray than brown. And my eyebrows never DID grow back so I have a bald-headed face. LOL! I'm HUGE. PLAIN! If I tried to flirt with anyone these days, THEY'D impale me! (Or certainly RUN from me!) SEE??? I'm being HONEST here, folks!
Henry died 2 years ago. Bright colors make my butt (and every OTHER part of me) look even BIGGER. (Is that even POSSIBLE?) Sigh ...!
Yet, it's good to dream. To remember. To wish. To believe. I CAN still do ALL of those things! So today I will pretend the things I CAN'T do, and DO the things I can! I'M HAPPY! (Now aren't you sorry you came over here & wasted time on this ridiculous post? Oh well, you can always pretend/dream/wish you DIDN'T! BWAHAHAHAHAHA!
(Think I'll go back in the other room & freak my housemate and company out some more with my 'mysterious' giggling fits.)

HELP!!!!
I am working on a project and realized I don't know how to do something. Can anyone help me, please? I drew something and saved it to my pictures. Now I need to make a mirror image of it. I KNOW I can do it through Microsoft Paint, but the sizing is WAY off. I don't have any other software that incorporates this, and I don't want to download the 'free' things I saw available when I tried to go through Bing and Google. (Don't trust them.) I would be SOOOOOO grateful for some assistance! I really DON'T relish the idea of redrawing my picture in reverse. Sigh. THANKS HUGE BUNCHES!
NOTE: This moron finally found a way to do it, so ignore the post! LOL!

HOW DO MY FAIRY SWAPPERS FEEL ABOUT THIS IDEA?
Just a short while ago I was cutting out the little papers for Ray (housemate) to draw names tonight. I have 9 people for the swap so I already realized I wasn't going to get a partner. But I had decided I'd just go ahead and make a fairy for my lonesome ol' self and not say anything! LOL! Then a couple of people must have noticed the uneven number of swappers and suggested I could conduct the swap in a different way. I LIKE it but first thought I'd run it by YOU who are signed up! I will give each person a partner to whom they'll SEND a swap package, but THAT person will NOT be the one FROM whom you receive a package! And you may feel free to contact the person to whom YOU are sending (this part is MY idea) and ask preferences, etc., but you may NOT ask them about THEIR 'sendee'. (I can't say for certain if that word even exists, but if it DIDN'T, I declare it does NOW! LOL!) That way, you will be surprised. What do you think? If you read this before this evening, please comment and yea or nay me, okay? If I haven't heard from MOST of you by about 6 P.M., I'll email you personally and ask. If the majority dislike the idea, I'll stick with my original plan. Otherwise, we can do the new one! THANKS FOR YOUR PATIENCE WITH THIS PAIN IN THE PATOOT!

THANK YOU AND A TEENY MYSTERY!
You are the best! Thanks to each of you who signed up yesterday for my Fabulous Petite Paper Fairy Swap! I'm telling you - bloggers are really just the NICEST PEOPLE! I now have an even number of swappers and - wooooohooooo - that means I get to play, too! Kai is HAPPY!
Of course, for anyone else who'd like to play, you still have until tomorrow evening at 6 to sign up! Even if I end up with an uneven number of swappers, it's cool! I figured out my solution! I do, though, have something of a dilemma or 'mystery', if you will. Yesterday someone left a comment wishing to sign up. YAY!!!!! However, she gave me only her email with the 'name' being 'justme' (see comments on last blog post) and I clicked on and looked up her blog but I still cannot figure out her identity. I emailed her for more info, but have yet to hear from her. Does anyone know who 'justme' is? I FEEL as though I SHOULD know her, but I'm OLD and FORGETFUL so I'm at a loss! LOL! 'JUSTME' if YOU are reading this, please check your emails! I wrote to you! Honest!
In other 'news', besides driving all of YOU crazy with my posting, I finished my bug and extra goodies for my swap partner in Cindy's BUG SWAP! SUCH FUN!!!!! (And Cindy is my partner!) Well, I think I've bugged (heehee) you all enough lately so I'm going to stop and do something I'm VERY good at! I'm going to go drink coffee! BWAHAHAHAHA! Wish you were all here to join me! HAVE A HAPPY THURSDAY!

WOE IS MEEEEEEEEE!
Good MORNING, you sweeties! This is a teeny post to plead my case for at LEAST one more swapper to sign up and join my Fabulous Petite Paper Fairy Swap! I don't ever have a LOT of folks signing up for my swaps, but that's okay 'cause I always have beautiful QUALITY folks! Most of the time I end up with an uneven number and - waaaaahhhhh! - I don't get a partner. But THIS time, I really WANT one! So - before the cut-off sign-up time at 6 Friday evening, PLEASE won't one more of you quality folks join in? My housemate, Ray will be drawing names at 8 that night and I'll send your partners by 9. Of COURSE I'd LOVE, LOVE, LOVE MORE than one more swapper to join! It's an EASY swap ... a lil' paper fairy in a container or setting ... that's IT! So, I've begged (shame on me) ...
... and now I'll publish this post, go away, and come back after a hard day of editing, scrubbing house, cooking for the beast aka Ray, and doing laundry, then return later with a hopeful heart. (Are you feeling sorry for me yet? LOL! I'm a shameless critter, aren't I?) With one last PRETTY PLEASE????? I'm outta here!
NOTE: Thank you so very much for signing up, Anita and Susan! And Jen and Chirp - you two are the sweetest for your offer to do two fairies! But I don't want anyone having to do extra! I am hoping for either ONE or THREE more folks to sign up before the deadline. In other words, an uneven number. Otherwise I will gladly take two partners! YOU LOVELY BLOGGERS TOTALLY ROCK!
P.S RAY offered to sign up. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Heaven help us! THAT'S not happening! (But it was nice, huh? 'Specially considering I call him the BEAST! LOL!)

TRAVELED-OUT, TUCKERED-OUT, TWO ENGAGEMENTS, TWO AMAZING BOOKS, AND SOME DIRT - NOT NECESSARILY IN THAT ORDER!
How's THAT for a blog post title? LOL! It's Sunday and I'm home. It's for GOOD this time. Well, at least for quite a long time. Good thing, too because I've pretty much used every spare cent I HAD, so if I DID need to travel any time soon, I'd be hitchhiking! You're chuckling? I'm SERIOUS! Keeping the old thumb well-oiled just in case! At any rate, I am sad to say my play brother and best friend's husband passed away 4 hours before I got there. I won't go into details but say simply that I hope you will all keep her in your thoughts. She's feeling very lost about now. And NO! She isn't alone! I'd NEVER do that! She's with her closest sister and headed for Canada with her for a bit. As for me, I am bone weary. It's been a tough 3 months and I am fighting with my own health issues brought about by the wear and tear from stress and worry. I'll be fine - too ornery to be otherwise - as soon as I've had some days (perhaps a week) to get my routine going again and my body rested. With that said, unless it's very important or swap-related, I'm going to try NOT to email anyone personally during that time. I will blog, read and comment on YOUR blogs, get the house in order, work on any editing I receive, and work on my swaps - the one I'm IN on Cindy's blog and the two I am hosting! I want to REALLY thank those of you who have signed up for one or both of mine! There's still time to sign up for my Fabulous Petite Paper Fairy Swap for which I will assign partners Friday before 9 P.M.! MORE than enough time to sign up for my Vacation in a Matchbox Swap! So, C'MON! Join in the fun! You KNOW you wanna! And please, please put my button/s (see right side of my blog) somewhere on YOUR blog whether or NOT you are joining! I would love to have lots of people see them and sign up! THANK YOU for that! In addition, to this hodgepodge of chatter, I've posted some new garden photos Ray took this morning! (See beginning of this post.)We ate some of the DELICIOUS cherry tomatoes earlier and they are so sweet and juicy. YUM!!! All the veggies are doing well and we have chilis out the wazoo! I'm GLAD 'cause I use them to make homemade salsa! I have LOADS of squash cleaned, cut up, and frozen, as well as lots of bell peppers and plenty of peas left from when THEY were growing. Kudos to Ray this year for a nicely done garden! In OTHER news, I'm pleased to announce the engagement of my older granddaughter Megan Ashley P. to Sgt. Tony P. as of two days ago! Sweet, sweet young man and sweet, sweet granddaughter! Additionally, my grandson, Sgt. Jacob P. and his adorable fiance (also Sgt.) Vanessa S., are getting married next month in beautiful Hawaii! THAT makes a grandma PROUD and HAPPY!
Finally, I would like to HIGHLY applaud a couple of authors for two wonderful books! One, I was ASKED to read for an upcoming event. I already HAD the book, but as most of you know, I read things in a typically oddball Kai order. So I pulled and read it and LOVED it! The second book I happened upon. It was on a JUNK table strewn with poor, disgarded and unloved books at our neighborhood Walgreen's drugstore! Had never heard of this book and - believe me - that's RARE. So I picked it up and loved the premise! I will let you see the cover photos and the synopsis of each from the Barnes and Noble website. I really enjoyed both!
When Wayland North brings rain to a region that's been dry for over ten years, he's promised anything he'd like as a reward. He chooses the village elder's daughter, sixteen-year-old Sydelle Mirabel, who is a skilled weaver and has an unusual knack for repairing his magical cloaks. Though Sydelle has dreamt of escaping her home, she's hurt that her parents relinquish her so freely and finds herself awed and afraid of the slightly ragtag wizard who is unlike any of the men of magic in the tales she's heard. Still, she is drawn to this mysterious man who is fiercely protective of her and so reluctant to share his own past.
The pair rushes toward the capital, intent to stop an imminent war, pursued by Reuel Dorwan (a dark wizard who has taken a keen interest in Sydelle) and plagued by unusually wild weather. But the sudden earthquakes and freak snowstorms may not be a coincidence. As Sydelle discovers North's dark secret and the reason for his interest in her and learns to master her own mysterious power, it becomes increasingly clear that the fate of the kingdom rests in her fingertips. She will either be a savior, weaving together the frayed bonds between Saldorra and Auster, or the disastrous force that destroys both kingdoms forever.
In an expensive London restaurant Julia Lovat receives a gift that will change her life. It appears to be a book of exquisite 17th-century embroidery patterns but on closer examination Julia finds it also contains faint diary entries. In these, Cat Tregenna, an embroideress, tells how she and others were stolen out of a Cornish church in 1625 by Muslim pirates and taken on a brutal voyage to Morocco to be auctioned off as slaves.
Captivated by this dramatic discovery, Julia sets off to North Africa to determine the authenticity of the book and to uncover more of Cat’s story. There, in the company of a charismatic Moroccan guide, amid the sultry heat, the spice markets, and exotic ruins, Julia discovers buried secrets. And in Morocco – just as Cat did before her – she loses her heart.
Almost 400 years apart, the stories of the two women converge in an extraordinary and haunting manner that will make readers wonder – is history fated to repeat itself?
With all of THAT said, I am going to stop chattering and post this, then call my best friend to check on her before I get busy again. Sending you all smiles and hugs this afternoon! And I'll be visiting your blogs tonight or tomorrow! LOVE YOU, LOVE YOU, LOOOOOOVE YOU!

ONE LAST TIME AND AN IMPORTANT SWAP UPDATE
It's Thursday at 7 A.M. Houston time &, VERY shortly - under 4 hours - I'm headed back to Washington State one more time. Soooooo exhausted, but got word that my best friend's hubby will most like cross over before I even GET there. I HOPE to be back WAY sooner, but I WILL be back no later than Friday the 10th. For those of you in my Fairy swap, I am extending the sign up date until the 10th instead of the 6th for obvious reasons. I WILL still have your partners to you by 9 P.M. of the 10th. THAT is a promise. And I will extend the mailing date for your fairies from June 30th to July 5th so they can reach your partner by the 10th of July! How's that? I hope I'll get LOTS more sign-ups for BOTH my swaps because they're going to be fun! I'll miss all of you - still can check blogs from Mar's house but won't have time to email. MAY not have time to comment. Sigh. Looking forward to getting home and not traveling again for a loooooong time! This old 60 year old is WORN OUT! HUGS TO YOU ALL!!!!!
